ANC Locked Out Of Meeting Following Improper Conduct

City of Cape Town officials said they locked ANC councillors out of a council meeting to send a message that the party’s ungovernable campaign won’t be tolerated, reported Eyewitness News on Friday.

According to the report, ANC councillors were prevented from entering the venue where the meeting was being held on Thursday, after ANC councillor Luvuyo Zondani refused to apologise for comments he made about a Democratic Alliance councillor.

Speaker Dirk Smit then ordered him to leave the chamber. When he refused, Smit moved the meeting to another venue without the ANC caucus.

“The speaker was forced to move the council meeting from the council chamber to an alternative venue to ensure we don’t waste rate payers’ money and the council continue its work. We won’t tolerate any who undermines council’s process” said the city’s Paul Boughey.

EWN could not reach the ANC for comment.
