The Office of the Chief Justice, in Midrand, was broken into on Saturday and 15 computers have been stolen.
The stolen computers were from the Human Resources and Facilities Units in the office. The Office of the Chief Justice confirmed that the computers in question contained important information about Judges and officials at that institution.
Spokesperson for Judiciary Nathi Mncube said the break-in constituted a major setback for the entire administration of the office. The South African Police are currently investigating the matter, which the Chief Justice himself views in a very serious light.
The pressure is now on to ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
