Masiphumelele near Fish Hoek, Cape Town is in unrest, following the failure of an attempted land invasion.
Police intervened in the clash, as protests turned violent, Times Live reports.
No arrests were made, however.
Western Cape police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut said; “No one has been arrested. [The protest was because of] a housing dispute”.
Kommetjie road was temporarily closed.
Security mayoral committee member JP Smith said that protests had been brewing since Saturday.
“They set fire to the wetland again. We had to get a lot of law enforcement and other staff to protect the firefighters,” said Smith.
