Eskom announced on Tuesday that one of the units at the Koeberg Power Station in Cape Town will be shut down for routine maintenance.
Unit two was shut down on Tuesday as part of general maintenance the power utility carries out across its generating fleet. The unit is expected to be down for two months.
“We are going to shut down this unit for two months and it should be back online soon. It previously used to be three months but we have cut it down to about two months now, this is part of our improvements we have been making on our generating fleet,” Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe explained.
