The family of murdered former African National Congress (ANC) councillor Ntokozo Maphumulo say they do not know why he was killed.
Maphumulo was shot and killed outside his home in Umdoni in the lower South Coast region on Tuesday.
The former councillor’s family said that they were inside their home when the incident occurred.
Maphumulo’s sister said she doesn’t know why her brother was killed. Maphumulo was no longer in politics at the time of his murder.
“When the second shot went off we heard someone crying ‘ah weh’. The third shot went off, he cried even louder. By that time, we were not aware it was him being shot in our driveway,” his sister told EWN.
According to the family, the suspects were allegedly dressed in police uniforms.
The suspects used Maphumulo’s vehicle as a getaway car which was later found dumped close to his home.
