Comic strip hero Dick Tracy captured the imagination with his ability to make calls using his wrist watch to help catch bad guys. What was only dream then in 1946 has since become reality, with the release of the Apple Watch Series 3.
"This has been our vision from the beginning," Apple chief executive officer Jeff Williams told attendees at the launch event.
The new Apple watch, which features wireless LTE connectivity, will allow customers to make calls or send texts from the watch without having an iPhone nearby, as with previous models.
"Now you can go for a run with just your watch and still be connected. It’s really nice to know you can be reached if needed," Williams said.
The Series 3 Apple watch was released alongside the much-anticipated new iPhone X (pronounced 'ten') on Tuesday.
