More carnage was recorded on South African roads this week, when 20 people were injured in a motorvehicle accident on the R40 in Nelspruit on Wednesday.
A minibus taxi collided with a light motorvehicle and emergency officials walked into an absolute a mess when they arrived at the scene.
“ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found multiple patients lying on the side of the road,” said ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall on Wednesday.
“Three people who sustained moderate injuries were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care. About 17 other people sustained minor injuries and they were treated and transported to hospital by other emergency services on scene, ” added Siddall.
There is still no clarity on the circumstances that led to the accident and it remains the subject of an extensive investigation.
