The news of the passing of South African actor Sandy Mokwena sent shock waves through most of Mzansi.
As many people were still processing the passing of jazz legend Hugh Masekela, the death of the Scandal! actor was announced.
Mokwena who has been in the entertainment industry from as earlier as 1972 gained fame for his numerous role but his Scandal! character of Eddie Khumalo is one many can never forget.
The actor held a stellar resume appearing on numerous local TV shows such as Generations, Soul City and Yizo Yizo.
Mokwena passed away on Wednesday night and according to a statement by e.tv from natural causes.
“e.tv is deeply saddened by the news and our condolences go out to Sandy’s family and the cast and crew of Scandal!” read the statement.
The veteran actor had been with the soapie since it began in 2005 and is the show’s longest-running character on the show.
Memorial and funeral details will be released in due course.
