Mariah Carey has revealed that she has bipolar disorder confirming many people’s theories about her diva antics.
The award-winning singer shared her struggles accepting her diagnosis with People magazine.
Mariah is well-known for her beautiful voice but her diva antics are what really get people talking.
The songbird was diagnosed with the condition after experiencing a breakdown in 2001.
“Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me,” she said.
Keeping her disorder under wraps seems to have been ” a burden” she had to carry.
The Fantasy hitmaker explains that she “simply couldn’t do that anymore. I sought and received treatment. I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love — writing songs and making music.”
Bipolar is explained by the Mayo Clinic as “a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression).”
The We Belong Together hitmaker also revealed to the publication that she is currently in therapy and taking medication and it’s not making her “feel too tired or sluggish or anything like that”.
