Two security guards were shot and wounded in a cash-in-transit heist outside Roodepoort on Tuesday.
According to reports, shots were fired at the vehicle the security guards were in, causing the tyres to burst. The suspects then looted the vehicle and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Two G4S security guards are currently recovering in hospital.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s Wayne Minnaar confirmed the incident.
“There was a cash-in-transit heist at about 19:00 along Ontdekkers Road where suspects shot at a cash-in-transit vehicle, damaged the tyres and also shot two security guards who were injured and had to be taken to hospital.”
Police are currently investigating the matter.
