The eThekwini Metro said the New Year’s weekend had been a hugely successful one for the city, after about 4 million people visited the city’s main beach.

According to Cllr Lucky Mshengu, the figure was confirmed to him by economic Development and Tourism head Phillip Sithole.
The municipality has attributed most of the problems to the drought conditions being experienced in that province.
Gumede took over at the helm of the African National Congress in that region, after a heavily disputed conference. Unity was one of the most critical factors, in the aftermath of that conference and the Local Government Elections.
