Zuma Hosts Schoolgirls For ‘Take Girl Child To Work’ Campaign

President Jacob Zuma

President Jacob Zuma hosted 40 grade 10-12 schoolgirls from around Gauteng on Thursday, as part of the Take a Girl Child to Work campaign aimed to inspire teenage girls to pursue their ambitions, said the Presidency in a statement.

“Take A Girl Child to Work is a national initiative started by Cell C that seeks to expose girl children to a work environment, positive role models, and offer them an opportunity to make informed career decisions based on the real work experience,” it said.

This annual event, which is hosted by the Presidency Employee Health and Wellness Unit, also aims to inspire young, adolescent girls to reach their full potential, especially in relation to careers that were previously thought to be male-orientated.

Zuma was to be accompanied by the Minister of Women in the Presidency, Susan Shabangu.
