Plane carrying Brazilian soccer team crashes

An airplane with 72 people on board, believed to be carrying members of the Chapecoense Brazilian football club, has crashed on its way to Medellin’s international airport.

The plane was transporting the players to the Copa Sudamerica final.

It has reportedly crash-landed in the town of La Union, Colombia.

Ten injuries have been reported.

The crash is believed to have been because of a lack of fuel.

Medellin’s Mayor Federico Gutierrez told Blu Radio “it’s a tragedy of huge proportions”.

This is a developing story.
