Steyn denies retirement reports

Morne Steyn is available to play for the Springboks this season if they need him.

Doubts over Steyn’s international future surfaced after French newspaper Midi Olympique reported last week the Stade Francais fly-half decided to retire from international rugby, but he has refuted those claims.

“Morne Steyn is available for Springboks if coach Allister Coetzee wants to pick him,” read a statement by the player’s management team.

In his initial interview with the publication Steyn merely said there were two younger fly-halves in Handre Pollard and Pat Lambie who offered South Africa more with an eye on the future.
