Ten days after cable theft, parts of Johannesburg's central business district (CBD), has still not had electricity fully restored.
While most areas in the CBD has electricity, Carlton Centre and Pritchard Street are still without power.
City Power's Sol Masolo says that they are hoping that power will be fully restored in affected areas by the end of the day.
“We still have problems with Carlton Centre and Pritchard Street which we hope to sort out before the end of the day as well. But the majority of Johannesburg is back on.”
Most parts of the City Centre has had no electricity for the last few days as a result of copper thieves who gained access to an underground tunnel, where they burned electric cables to force the power to trip, making it safe for them to cut kilometres of the wire in order to steal it.
