Stop! You shouldn’t be drinking coffee early in the morning!

For many of us, we cannot start our day without having our morning coffee, but would you be surprised if you found out that coffee actually works when you drink it at certain times during the day?

A new study shows that when we consume coffee at certain times, it has the best effects on our bodies.

According to Forbes website, "drinking a cup of coffee first thing in the morning blunts the energy-boosting effects of caffeine and may lead to increased tolerance of the stimulant."

A Japanese coffee-lover, Ryoko Iwata wrote in a blog post titled, I Love Coffee, that our bodies release a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol makes us feel awake and alert.

According to the Your Hormones website, "Cortisol is a steroid hormone that regulates a wide range of processes throughout the body, including metabolism and the immune response. It also has a very important role in helping the body respond to stress."

Iwata says your body's production of cortisol peaks between 08:00 and 09:00 in the morning. By drinking coffee at this time, it " diminishes the effectiveness of the additional stimulation".

"By consuming caffeine when it is not needed, your body will build a faster tolerance to it, and the buzz you get will greatly diminish," Iwata wrote.

Cortisol is also known as a stress-related hormone and by drinking caffeine at the peak production of the hormone, this could disturb your circadian rhythms and have many effects on your health.

So think again when having a cup of coffee at 08:00 in the morning. Maybe you should have some tea instead?
