Jill Scott’s divorce gets messy

After only 15 months of marriage, Jill Scott has ended her marriage with husband Mike Dobson.

The award-winning singer reportedly filed for divorce on September 15, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper,” in the divorce petition.

The couple have no children together and reportedly have a prenuptial contract that Scott wants the court to enforce.

Speaking exclusively to Bossip, Dobson has admitted that he was "blindsided" by Scott's divorce filing, saying they had agreed to work on their relationship as a separated couple and even keep wearing their rings.

“She’s an evil woman,” Dobson told Bossip.

“I’m telling you. It’s like what Jill Scott wants, Jill Scott gets. People are in her ear, and if someone comes in to challenge the dumb s**t, they made me be the bad guy and that got me outta there.”

Dobson went on to add that the Golden singer is controlling: “She’s got issues. There’s no men in that family, there’s only women. And when a man comes in, it’s like a challenge.”

"She likes to have men that she can control. You’re not gonna control me. What’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong,” he added.

This divorce has quickly gotten messy, with Scott even reportedly applying a restraining order against him on the same day she filed for divorce.

Under the restraining order, the couple cannot "threaten, harass or stalk the other, nor can one trash talk the other in front of their kids or hide files on their hard drives or computers or hide assets from the marriage."
