Limpopo police launch manhunt for alleged baby-snatcher


A middle-aged woman is on the radar of police in Limpopo as she is believed to have abducted a five-month-old baby on Wednesday.

The incident is said to have taken place in a suburb near Modjadjiskloof in Tzaneen.

According to police, the woman requested accommodation from the missing baby's parents on Tuesday evening. The baby is believed to have been abducted while the mother went to the local supermarket, as upon her return home, both the woman and her baby were missing. 

Preliminary investigations have determined that the suspect took a taxi from Modjadjiskloof to Makhado, where she later hiked to an unknown destination.

The police's Moatshe Ngoepe says, "The suspect was last seen wearing a purple towel, pink short sleeve T-shirt with short hair and average height."

Ngoepe has called upon citizens with any information that may assist in recovering the babyand apprehend the suspect to come forward.

At this stage the suspect is unknown and no arrests have been made.
