The search for Brenda Fassie is on! Here’s how to audition


After the announcement that a movie based on the life of Brenda Fassie is in the works, the question of who would be chosen to play the iconic entertainer has been the talk of the town. 

UK film company Showbizbee secured the rights to film the story about the late music icon. The film is expected to be released in 2018 and will be directed by Edward Shaw.

Auditions to play the iconic MaBrr are open to all South Africans, so any female could land the role of a lifetime!

“Open to all South Africans nationally. This initiative essentially will give the opportunity for any female across the country to apply for this challenging and honourable role for the movie,” read a statement by the company.

If you think you have what it takes to land the role of Mabrr, here's what you have to do and it ain't that tough!

Here's what you need to do:

1. Record a 1-2 min video explaining why you think you would be a good candidate to play Brenda Fassie – it doesn't need to be a professional video, you can use your phone.

2.  Upload your  video to Youtube and set it to private.

3. Fill out the form, which can be found on the website

4. Cross your fingers and pray!

The closing date for submissions is February 11, 2018.
