A 61-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in Groblersdal, Limpopo.
According to reports, the girl was sent to a nearby spaza shop by her mother when the incident occurred.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said that the victim immediately reported the ordeal to her mother. Her mother then reported it to the police.
The man was arrested on Monday and is expected to appear in the Motetema Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
“The South African Police Service in this province condemns these types of acts, especially when [they are] perpetrated by adult persons who are supposed to protect them [children],” Ngoepe said.
