Golf star’s wife charged with domestic violence

Krista Glover, the wife of 2009 US Open Champion Lucas, is expected to appear in court on May 31, after she was charged with domestic violence, battery and resisting arrest.

Lucas confirmed, via his twitter feed, that Krista was involved in an altercation with mother Hershey Glover at the weekend, after Lucas produced a lacklustre performance at The Players Championship.

Lucas also confirmed that Krista had been charged, but added that he was confident the judicial system would resolve this personal affair fairly. He expressed deep regrets about what happened. He said he was sure Krista would be cleared of those charges.

Lucas shot a 78 in the third round at TPC Sawgrass, which some believe was the source of this altercation. He missed the 54-hole cut at the tournament.

The Associated Press reports that there was an initial argument between Lucas and his wife, at which point his mother intervened.

In a statement released by the PGA Tour, it said it would respect the privacy of all those involved and only assist if requested to do so.
