The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has allegedly spent R5-million to bring back sports presenter, Robert Marawa.

SABC chief operating officer, Chris Maroleng, unveiled that Robert Marawa will not only return to one radio station but will have his sports radio show simulcast on both Metro FM and Radio 2000.

Marawa signed a three-year deal with the public broadcaster.

According to the Sunday World, Marawa will be paid R7 000 per shift. The show will be two hours long.

Marawa’s contract of employment states that the sports presenter will be earning a monthly salary of R154 000.

At the end of his contract, Marawa would have earned an estimated R5.5-million.

Marawa’s new radio show is expected to be “bigger and better” and will broadcast nationwide over a two-hour period (18:00-19:00 on Metro FM and 18:00-20:00 on Radio 2000) with an August launch date to be released soon.

“The return of Robert Marawa to the SABC signifies the renewal of the SABC to what it was. The SABC is confident that Robert Marawa will uphold the standard of excellence that we are driving,” Maroleng said.
