A Cape Town teacher gunned down by her husband was laid to rest on Sunday.
Family members, friends and pupils gathered to say their final goodbyes to the late, Samantha de Kock.
The funeral service took place at Sid. G. Rule Primary School in Grassy Park.
Friends and family members paid tribute to the Grade 2 teacher, remembering her as a friendly, polite person.
Samantha is said to have been someone who was always smiling and always laughing. She was always encouraging and motivating others.
Those around her said she had a passion for teaching and wanted to make a difference in the lives of her pupils.
The teacher leaves behind her six-year-old son, Daniel.
Samantha was shot and killed by her husband, Steven de Kock in their home in Lotus River on June 11.
It is believed the teacher, who worked at Battswood Primary School, was getting ready to leave for work when the shooting occurred. Her husband shot her eight times, in her upper body and her right leg.
She tried to run to a neighbour’s house but collapsed between the two houses.
Her husband then went inside his home and turned the gun on himself.
