Mary Rose Ballocanag (53) is recovering in hospital, after an accident she was involved in claimed the lives of her husband and their four daughters this weekend.
The family of six had been on its way back from a Fourth of July holiday trip to Ocean City, when a pickup truck rammed into their vehicle on the Route 1, Delaware highway Friday.
Among the dead are Audie Marquez Trinidad (61), and his daughters – Kaitlyn (20), Danna (17) and 14-year-old twins Melissa and Allison.
Family representatives told the New York Post that Ballocanag was fully aware of what has transpired, adding that she was naturally devastated by the extent of her loss.
She has been hospitalised with multiple fractures but her condition is stable.
Police Chief Melissa Jaffe told American journalists that the truck had crossed the median before colliding with the family’s minivan. The occupants of the pickup truck have emerged from this tragedy with minimal injuries and are being treated in hospital.
The devastating accident is now the subject of a Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigation.
