Three people have been killed, while another was seriously wounded in a dramatic shooting at Tembisa in the East Rand on Wednesday.
The gunfire was exchanged just outside a shop on Second October Street. The motive for shooting remains unclear, but the taxi industry was somehow involved.
Emergency officials report absolute carnage at the scene, when they arrived.
“ER24 paramedics, along with the Provincial Services, arrived on the scene at 13h50 to find a taxi parked outside a small shop,” read a statement issued late on Wednesday afternoon.
“The bodies of two men were found lying in the taxi while a third was found lying a few metres away,” continued the statement.
“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that they had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead,” continued the statement.
“A fourth man was treated and transported by the Provincial Services to a nearby hospital.”
