Leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance, Nelson Chamisa, dug in his heels on Friday, calling the Zimbabwe election results fake.
Throughout the vote counting process in these elections, Chamisa and his supporters have maintained that there had been some form of skulduggery from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).
Among the complaints issued was the failure of the ZEC to release the Presidential results sooner, which Chamisa feels was hugely suspicious. However, his complaints have fallen on deaf ears, as opponent Emmerson Mnangagwa has been confirmed as the newly elected President of Zimbabwe.
Taking to his twitter feed on Friday, Chamisa said: “The ZEC scandal of releasing unverified fake results is regrettable.”
Earlier in the week, the European Union observer mission in Zimbabwe had highlighted the need for more transparency from the ZEC, when it released these election results.
Chamisa does not believe that objective has been realised this week.
“ZEC denied our election agent access to results be4 announcement. ZEC must release proper & verified results endorsed by parties. The level of opaqueness, truth deficiency, moral decay & values deficit is baffling,” added Chamisa.
