An assistant principal has been detained by Waldron police, after she was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy at her school.
Jessica Williams, who was a teacher at Waldron Public School, allegedly had a sexual relationship with the boy. Her bond has been set at $100,000.
Williams was arrested and charged, following a tip-off to police. If the allegations are proven true, it would represent yet another case of this nature which has gone undetected by authorities for a long time – putting into question the capacity of schools to protect children from this kind of abuse.
She has also been charged for tampering with evidence, which does suggest that something significant had been discovered by investigators – possibly nude photos sent to the boy.
5News reports that Williams and the boy in question have admitted to the relationship – in interviews with the police.
Waldron Schools Superintendent, Daniel Fielding, said: “We have a former employee who resigned last night at the board meeting. It is under police investigation.”
