Omar Mascarell is hopeful of successful Schalke debut after injuring himself during a friendly match shortly after joining the club.
The former Real Madrid midfielder joined the Bundesliga side from rivals Eintracht Frankfurt in June 2018.
But midway through pre-season, Mascarell picked up a thigh injury against SCO Angers and was subsequently ruled out of the first three fixtures of the new season.
Speaking to the club’s official website, ahead of potentially facing Borussia Monchengladbach in the league on Saturday, Mascarell said: “I have absolutely no pain or niggles at all. I’m ready to play again.”
The 25-year-old added: “I was really looking forward to the start of the season with Schalke and wanted to help my teammates on the pitch.
“I’m delighted to be back. Of course, the upcoming games will be very tough, but we just have to focus on Monchengladbach for now.
“We need to play our own football again and play with courage. We have a very strong team and we stand together like a family.”
