A Richard Mille watch worth R2.9 million was among the stolen items at a business robbery in Sandton on the weekend.

Two males and a female entered the House of Ameera, an upmarket jewelry store in Nelson Mandela Square. The well-dressed trio feigned interest in expensive watches kept in the safe, after which they withdrew firearms and robbed the store.

An Audermars Piguet watch worth R500 000, other Rolexes totalling R280 000, as well as 19 rings, diamond stones and cash were also taken. The employees, one of which was injured in the robbery, were relieved of their cellphones and laptops.

Police spokesman Granville Meyer revealed that investigations are underway but no arrests had been made. Additionally, Meyer confirmed that a private investigator had been hired by the store to help police.
