A six-year-old girl who was hit by a stray bullet in Lavender Hill, Cape Town, on Saturday has died.
According to reports, the Nathlia Pienaar was injured while playing outside her home just after 10 am when unidentified suspects opened fire on a 24-year-old man.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed that both victims were transported to hospital.
Unfortunately, the six-year-old girl died due to her injuries.
Nathlia was declared brain-dead on arrival at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
Rwexana said that a case of murder and attempted murder are being investigated. No arrests have yet been made.
