South Africans are famous for making the best out of a bad situation and the #BokoHaramChallenge is proof of just that.
With waves of xenophobic violence sweeping across the nation, mass protests against gender-based violence and an ailing economy, Mzansi could be forgiven for feeling a bit down.
But never fear, our world class humour is here.
In the wake of xenophobic attacks, South Africans on twitter have been gearing up to face terrorist organisation Boko Haram, which operate out of Nigeria. This is in response to a report that the group is threatening to harm South Africans in Nigeria if the violence does not stop.
The tongue-in-cheek posts feature "extremists" armed to the teeth with wooden spoons, irons, hair dryers, cans of air freshener and camping chairs.
While there is a strong argument to be made that making fun of murderous extremists groups is in bad taste, one can’t help but giggle at the creativity of Mzansi.
Can we take anything seriously...?
