Nicholas Ninow was found guilty by the Pretoria High Court for two counts of rape on Monday.

Ninow raped a seven-year-old girl in a bathroom of the Silverton Dros in Pretoria on September 2018. Earlier, the 21-year-old had pleaded guilty to rape posession of drugs and defeating the ends of justice.

Judge Pap Mosopa's verdicts revealed that he was found guilty on all three counts.

"The only reasonable inference the court can draw is that the accused saw the victim playing in the play area, saw her going to the bathroom, followed her and then undressed and raped her," said Mosopa.

Mosopa then announced that the sentencing will be delayed until 16 October as the defence has not yet received the psychologist's report. This was met with jeers of disapproval from the gallery.

Ninow was not granted bail and will remain in custody until sentencing.
