A 14-year-old boy is expected to appear in court for allegedly stabbing his father to death in Delft, Cape Town.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday evening. It is believed that the stabbing following a family dispute.
"This young boy took a knife and stabbed his father. We know need to deal with the root causes of violence," Delft community policing forum’s Charles George said.
Last week, Police Minister Bheki Cele has vowed to halve violent crime over the next ten years.
Cele's statement comes after the release of the latest annual crime stats which showed that violent crimes and murder had significantly worsened.
The crime stats showed that in South Africa over 21 000 murders were recorded between April 2018 and March this year.
Cele said that SAPS will be working hard to ensure that they half violent crime over the next ten years.
“As a police service, we aim to achieve this goal in the shortest term possible.”
