More than 200 Johannesburg firefighters have reportedly been suspended.
According to Eyewitness News, 231 firefighters were suspended after they refused to "call-outs, citing concerns over the non-assignment of supervisors" in July.
EWN confirmed that it was in possession of suspension letters served on the firefighters from various stations across Johannesburg last week.
The firefighters are reportedly accusing the Emergency Services Management of not adhering to the National Health Act.
Emergency Services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that the large group of firefighters were suspended but would not discuss reasons and said that they are "dealing with the matter internally".
