Panyaza Lesufi sends condolences to Grade 6 learner shot dead in Katlehong

The Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi has expressed his shock after a Grade 6 learner was shot and killed outside a Katlehong primary school.
The learner was killed in a shooting outside Izibuko Primary School.
The Gauteng education department confirmed that the learner had passed away.
"Unfortunately, this led to a death of a Grade 6 learner," the department said.
Police, however, confirmed that the shooting occurred on Wednesday evening.
Spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said that the 12-year-old learner's parents had arrived at the school to collect their child who returned from a school trip.
According to reports, it is believed that the child was caught in the crossfire between taxi association rivals.
Lesufi visited the families on Thursday and expressed his condolences.
"The deceased was unfortunately caught in a crossfire between taxi association rivals, which resulted in the fatal shooting of a man who came to collect his two grandchildren in Grade R at Izibuko Primary School who were returning from a school trip."
